The Tranzi March towards EU Tyranny is no long a secret

Most Americans have little to no understanding of the European Union. Founded under tripartite coal and steel trade negotiations, many viewed the EU as a free trade agreement that promotes liberty. Others see it as the European version of the United States. This fundamental misunderstanding has led American Presidents from George HW Bush to his son, to all of the current major candidates for president to support the EU, and in the case of President George W Bush to push for its expansion into Turkey.

Whatever the EU began as, it most certainly is not a free market anything. The Eurocrats in Brussels have decided to define products, weights, measures, and health policies across the member states. On multiple occasions the proponents of this "trade alliance" have called for a unified military command. Some may respond by suggesting that this is merely a natural progression such as the change from These United States in the Articles of Confederation to The United States under the Constitution. However, this ahistorical belief that centralization will inevitably lead to a liberal constitution misses the point.

Imagine if the people of the various states refused to ratify the Constitution and the Federalists responded by having the state legislatures vote on it piecemeal, while appropriating money to propagandize for it. Then imagine that the Federalists in the Continental Congress banned the anti-Federalists. Then imagine that while this was going on, the Federalists decided to national arrest warrant, whose defined crime of "racism" is so nebulous that it includes any opposition to the inclusion of non-natives or the expansion to new lands. I would say that this is exactly what is happening, except as it is clear by now any comparison of the EU Trans-National Socialists to the American Founders is obscene.

And yet it just gets worse. For all the calls that Bat Ye'or was conspiratorial with her warnings of Eurabia, it is impossible to deny when supposed "right-wingers" like the fraud Sarkozy call for a Mediterranean Union. I would normally suggest that Bat Ye'or and American conservatives go over to Europe to warn them of the threat. However, the arrest of the liberal cartoonist Gregorius Nekschot, suggest that doing so would lead to their arrest.

Regardless of their own opposition, the peoples of Europe are being reorganized into an illiberal tyranny bent on destroying their culture, if not Islamicizing it. God save Europe from the New Class.

Let Them Eat Condoms

Instead of hastening food deliveries, the UN is shipping 218,400 condoms to the suffering people of Burma. Evidently the unaccountable bureaucrats at the UN Population Fund think that the biggest problem facing the people of Myanmar after the cyclone and continuing communist oppression is a lack of safe-sex. It's not water-borne disease, malnutrition, or getting shot in the head by the local agri-Marxists. Surely the globalist junta occupying Kips Bay, don't consider mass death appropriate means of poopulation control.

The Unaccountable Mayor

In the latest turn of the city's litigious harassment of gun ownership, Mayor Michael Bloomberg will not have to testify. The partisan hack in robes, explains "From the city's point of view, he doesn't add a thing to your case". Perhaps I'm confused, but isn't Judge Jack Weinstein supposed to follow the law and the Constitution, not act like an attorney for the city?

Of course, it is not like Nanny Bloomberg has any respect for the Constitution. Earlier this month, the the mayor's attorneys asked Judge Weinstein to ban all references to the Second Amendment in the lawsuit against gun retailers, who committed no crime.

Since the Constitution is irrelevant to Bloomberg and Weinstein, perhaps litigation is in order. We should sue Bloomberg Media for any faulty or correct information that is then possibly misused, and then ask a judge to to ban all references to the First Amendment on the case.

What part of "Interstate Commerce" does our state government not understand? Amazon.com is not based in New York. In the long run, Congress must fix this. Given the size of the "i-economy" (or is it economy 2.0), there will be taxation. However, having 50 different tax sales rates (not counting municipalities like NYC that have sales taxes) is untenable even for the large retailers. It is a nightmare for small ones. Therefore there should either be a nation-sales tax, which bars state sales taxes, or taxes will be set only according the home state of a business.

If Albany cares about our deficit, they should stop bribing New Yorkers, and worse, special interests, with taxpayer money.

The Amazon Tax

New York Sun Editorial
May 22, 2008

Just in time for Father's Day and the summer beach reading season, Governor Paterson and his allies in the State Senate and Assembly are taking aim at New York's readers, imposing a new sales tax on books bought from the online retailer Amazon.com. New Yorkers who have bought books on Amazon recently are seeing the notice, "Important Messages: Due to a new law recently passed by the State of New York we are required to collect NY sales taxes on taxable items sold by Amazon.com on or after June 1st, 2008. If your order is placed prior to June 1st, your Order Total may not include an estimate of NY sales taxes, but those taxes may still be charged if your order is readied for shipment on or after that date."
